G (Good) notes are badly worn and may have tears, frayed edges, and missing corners.
VG (Very Good) notes are those with extensive circulation. They may be soiled (but not extensively), limp, dark in appearance, or have a small tear or two.
F (Fine) notes are well-circulated with little crispness remaining. The notes may only be slightly soiled or stained, and may not have any tears or missing corners.
VF (Very Fine) notes are circulated, but attractive. They may show several folds and slight loss of color, but must retain some crispness.
XF (Extremely Fine) notes are only slightly-circulated. They must be bright and retain almost full crispness. They may have no more than 3 minor folds or creases.
AU (About Uncirculated) notes appear new at first glance, but may show a slight trace of wear upon closer examination. They may have a small corner fold, or a slight bend or fold which does not break the fiber (no hard creases).
Unc (Uncirculated) notes are new, but may exhibit imperfect centering, a pinhole or counting smudge, or other minor evidence of improper handling.
CU (Choice Uncirculated) notes are new, reasonably well-centered, and have no imperfections. They must have better eye appeal than the average uncirculated note with brighter colors and fresher appearance.
Gem CU (Gem Uncirculated) notes are perfect notes with perfect centering and full margins.
